When you discuss the professionals who follow the guidelines – you again are so broad. For example you mention the surgeon must make sure the right procedure is used when preparing a patient for surgery. How does this connect to the clinical preventative screenings you disussed? It is completely a different guideline. Stay focused one 1 specific guideline, not a collection of all of them.

You then mention the NICE guidelines but you do not reference them or tell me what specific NICE guideline you are referring to. NICE has a whole collection of guidelines. What research did NICE use to write their guideline? Does your hospital follow the NICE guideline exactly or does it vary at all? The hospital EHR and reports are not considered evidence-based research on which to base a set of guidelines.

Definition of the evidence – you do not cite which guideline you are referring to here – your hospital guideline or the NICE guideline. What type of evidence was used to write the guideline? What level of evidence was it?

Opinion on how followed – what does a pharmacist selling medication have to do with a clinical preventative guideline? You then discuss violation of a policy by a pharmacist – this does not connect. Neither does negligence by the nurse fit in here.

You need to choose 1 single specific guideline – discuss its use at your hospital. Review the evidence it is based upon and the level. Discuss who follows that 1 specific policy at your hospital and how well is it followed. Each section of the paper must relate to the others – you are all over the place and too broad.( THE SECOND FILE IS AN EXAMPLE)

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
