DISCUSSION 1:

PROMPT: During our discussions and your readings in this Course, you have reviewed several legal and ethical issues that affect business practices and business decisions. The business environment, for even the sole proprietor and small company, can be complex. For this Forum, reflect on our readings, discussions and the issues we have covered. Consider your own life experience and the kind of business you would operate. Then, for your first forum post include the following:

  • What do you find to be one of the most important ethical issues today for a business owner or leader in management (if not an actual business owner)?
  • What should be the business owner or leader’s approach to this issue (e.g. best ethical framework)?
  • Include an example.

DISCUSSION 2:

Look back to the raw data you collected in week 1. There are 7 variables listed:

Vehicle type/class

Year

Make

Model

Price

MPG (city)

MPG (highway)

Choose TWO variables that you feel are correlated and explain why you feel that they are correlated. Do you suspect the relation is positive or negative? Why? Which would be considered the independent variable, which the dependent variable? Why?

Run a regression analysis in Excel and provide the results in your post along with your raw data. Looking at the R2 value, explain what this indicates about the strength of the relation. Then write out your Regression Equation, state if your p-value and conclusion.

WEEK 1 INFORMATION FOR THE DISCUSSION ABOVE:

Part 1:

Good day! My name is Yolanda Williams. I am the mother of an amazing sixteen-year old daughter, who is an aspiring anime cartoon artist. I also am the mother of a feisty ten-year old mini-poodle. She was a rescue animal and has been a part of the family for over six years now. I am a civil service employee and currently works as a budget analyst. I am also an Army combat veteran that served for almost ten years. It was an amazing ride and looking back, I cannot believe that I did it. What it means to be young and fearless.

I am working to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and enrolled in this class as a course requirement. I am currently nine classes away from graduating and is looking starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am looking forward to completing this course by gaining a better understanding on how business decisions effect my life and the lives of everyone in my community. It would also interesting to find out how businesses navigate certain decisions within the law.

I have a few interests but the most important one is hanging with family and friends. I also like watching movies and eating popcorn. A few of my hobbies include painting portraits, gardening, trying new recipes and sewing. I also enjoy listening to music, dancing, traveling and going to the beach.

I look forward to working with each of you these next eight weeks. I wish you all the best of luck!
