Career Research Project

Career Research Project
MAN4941 is one of your final classes before graduation. You have studied a wide array of discipline specific information and have applied this knowledge in this class and eventually in your new career. The first challenge is to understand a little bit about yourself, then learn about those careers that you covet so much, get the inside perspective from someone that is there and finally bring all of this information together. In this assignment, you will work on the following:
Self-Assessment – take a good look at yourself through self-reflection and evaluation.
Basic career research – you will find details for different jobs posting in a field related to your career choice.
Get the inside scoop – Identify a leader in the industry you are interested in and conduct and interview with them about their career and job market.
Put it all together – Write an APA formatted paper based on all of the information you have gathered.

How do you ensure your organization and its activities are aligned with your core values?
How do you help a new employee understand the culture of your organization?
When faced with two equally-qualified candidates, how do you determine whom to hire?
What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should possess?
What is the biggest challenge facing leaders today?
What is one mistake you witness leaders making more frequently than others?
What is the one behavior or trait that you have seen derail more leaders’ careers?

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as a leader?
What Traits differentiate your leader from a non-leader? (if you have not addressed this please do it in this paper).
Write up the results of this interview in to an APA formatted paper that is at least 3 pages.
4. Put it all together
Write an APA formatted paper based on all of the information you have gathered. The paper should consist of 15 or more pages.
The final paper will require you to incorporate what you have learned in each of the sections. Write an Abstract, Introduction then add the sections you worked on, then finish with a conclusion. The deliverable is a 12 to 15 page paper. In addition include a cover page and reference section (not included in the page count). You can include descriptive diagrams and tables.
