The Final paper will be 6-8 pages long, double spaced, in a 12-point times new roman font. Please refrain from margin adjustments, extensive name, date, class etc… as a preamble, and running headers.
You are free to use any officially recognized citation style you choose so long as it is used correctly and consistently. The paper must use a MINIMUM of 4 academic peer reviewed sources separate from your textbook. You will write on a contemporary real-world political event that you have found impactful and evaluate it by way of two of the International Relations theories we have discussed this semester. You will compare and contrast those viewpoints building an evaluation of your own based in the literature. We will discuss the paper and its requirements extensively in class.
A peer reviewed source is an academic one, from a Peer reviewed journal, or textbook. You will have the ability to use the library resources to find as many of those sources as you need. A news article or retail book on the subject are not academic sources as they are not peer reviewed. You may use these types of sources, but they DO NOT count towards the four required academic ones. To cite an academic source you must draw from it extensively, not just mention it in passing, which means you will need to have read the sources from which you cite. We will discuss how to find such sources in class with a live demonstration.
Proper grammar, spelling, and well-articulated ideas are expected for the paper and they will be graded on, though they do not hold as much weight as the content of your argument. While this rubric is not exact, and there is always an understanding that exceptional good and exceptionally poor writing will be a factor this sample rubric may help you understand what is expected.
