The paper should address a question or issue related to any of the macroeconomic topics we have discussed in class. While this paper is not a major research project, it should involve sound economic analysis. Make sure that you include the following sections:

1) Introduction and statement of purpose. Make a clear statement of the question you are addressing.

2) Background. Conduct a literature review on the topic, and provide a background. Make sure you address how other analysts approached your question of study, and the conclusions they reached.

3) Analysis. Here you expand on your own insights, and build your arguments. Try using one of more of the concepts and models discussed in class to analyze the question.

Make sure that you include relevant data, if available, that support your claims.

4) Conclusions. Clearly state your conclusions; they should draw from your analysis.Make sure they clearly address the question you stated in the introduction.

5) References (work cited)

6) Appendix (optional)

Format: The paper should be between5 and 7 pages long, double-spaced and font size 12.Tables, graphs, data, etc. can be included in the body of the paper only if not too big or long, and only if necessary. Otherwise, they should appear in an Appendix (there is no limit on the number of pages of the Appendix).You should include at least five references; the format for the citations is free, but be consistent.

Grading:

The grading will take into account:

1. Definition of the question of study, analysis, relevance of the citations and validity of the arguments and conclusions.10 points

2. Overall format: clarity, grammar, etc. 5 points

3. Class Presentation: 5 points
